Section 710. FENCE AND GUARDRAIL

Guardrail posts for use with W-beam type guardrail may be steel or wood.

Where it is not possible to maintain the 0.6 m minimum between the back of the guardrail post and the top of a slope 2:1 or steeper, increase the post length to 2.5 m.

Treat field cuts with two coats of preservative treatment applied with a brush or a sprayer. Field cuts shall not be in contact with the ground.

Field drill holes in the steel splice plates and field cut steel rails at joints only on curved sections or where required to correspond to the field cut wood rails at joints. Do not use a torch to cut holes, slots, plates, or rails.
